Quick answer: shifting tides are a mechanic in the Sift, the new Minecraft dimension that is playable now in Minecraft Dungeons II and coming to Java & Bedrock Edition in 2027. Mojang says they “can affect your character and those around you.” How they work — what triggers them, what they change, how long they last — is Not announced. If you searched for something else that shares the name, this page covers only the Sift mechanic.

What Mojang has confirmed

One sentence, from the Sift announcement: shifting tides within the Sift can affect your character and those around you. It establishes three things — the mechanic exists, it belongs to the Sift, and its reach extends past the player to nearby characters.

It stops there. “Can” is not “always,” and “those around you” comes with no range and no list of who counts. Mojang has also said some of the Sift’s inhabitants are friendly companions, which is why “those around you” is worth noticing, but no tide effect has been tied to any creature. The Sift mobs page covers what is known about the inhabitants themselves.

Flow, Endure and Thrive: the community records

Community records — not officially confirmed. Players documenting Dungeons II on minecraft.wiki (accessed ; the page marks itself as a work in progress) record three Sift tides:

  • Flow Tide
  • Endure Tide
  • Thrive Tide

The same records say the tides affect soul collection and movement inside the dimension. That is the extent of it: the records used here do not pair each name with a specific effect, so this page does not either. Reading “Endure” as a defensive buff or “Flow” as a speed boost would be guessing from the dictionary, not from the game.

These names come from Dungeons II and from the community, not from Mojang. They are not a preview of Java & Bedrock terminology. The Dungeons II and the Sift page puts them alongside the game’s other community-recorded details.

Where you can experience shifting tides today

Only in Minecraft Dungeons II, released on September 29, 2026. Mojang’s own advice is that playing Dungeons II is the best way to preview how the Sift works, with more details promised at future Minecraft LIVE events. A preview is not a rulebook, though: Mojang has not said how the Minecraft version of the Sift will differ from the Dungeons II version.

For Java & Bedrock, the Sift arrives in 2027 with no exact date announced — see the release date page — and the way in is also unannounced, as covered in how to get to the Sift. For the dimension as a whole, start with what the Sift is or go back to the Sift Dimension homepage.
