Two names are all Mojang has given out. When it presented the Sift, Minecraft’s fourth dimension, it described the new biomes as including Meadows and Carapace. That one word, “including,” matters: it signals there is more to the dimension than those two, while the other biomes stay under wraps. Everything else you may have read about Sift terrain, from named places to the color of the stone, comes from players documenting Minecraft Dungeons II. This page keeps those two kinds of information apart.

The two biomes Mojang has named

The official announcements give these two biomes a name and nothing else, so the honest entry for each is short.

Meadows

Confirmed as a Sift biome by name. What it looks like, how large it is, and which mobs and blocks belong there are Not announced.

Carapace

Also confirmed by name and nothing more. A community-recorded Dungeons II location shares the word — more on that below — but Mojang has not tied the two together, so nothing from that location should be read into the biome.

The official description of the Sift as a whole is broader than either biome: Mojang calls it “an uncharted dimension of threats, mysteries, and breathtaking beauty,” and says hazardous new blocks will change how you explore it. How many biomes make up that dimension is Not announced.

Places the community has recorded in Dungeons II

Community records — not officially confirmed. Players documenting Dungeons II on minecraft.wiki’s Dungeons II: The Sift page (accessed ) list the following locations in the Sift. The page marks itself as a work in progress, and the list does not come from Mojang.

  • Lullaby Hills
  • Lullaby Hilltop
  • Illager Stronghold
  • Singer’s Meadow
  • The Carapace
  • Echo Den

These are recorded as locations, and they should be read that way. None of them has been confirmed by Mojang as a biome, so this is not a biome list with six extra entries.

Two names deserve a closer look because they echo the official ones. Singer’s Meadow sounds like it might belong to Meadows, and The Carapace sounds like it might be the Carapace biome itself. Neither link has been confirmed. Mojang has not said where either location sits, and matching words are not evidence.

What the Sift’s landscape is made of

Community records — not officially confirmed. The same wiki page describes the Sift’s environment in Dungeons II as built from:

  • red-orange stone
  • green vegetation
  • ichor
  • sculk

The sculk comes with a piece of community-recorded story. According to the wiki, corrupted sculk originates from a disease in the Sift, while healthy sculk still survives there. This too is a community record of Dungeons II, not Mojang describing the Java & Bedrock dimension.

What is still not announced

The gaps are larger than the facts, and they are worth stating plainly so that a confident-sounding biome guide elsewhere can be checked against them:

  • The total number of Sift biomes — Not announced
  • Any biome name besides Meadows and Carapace — Not announced
  • Which mobs and blocks belong to which biome — Not announced
  • Whether the Java & Bedrock version will match Dungeons II — Not announced
  • The exact 2027 date for Java & Bedrock — Not announced

Mojang’s own advice is that the best way to preview how the Sift works is to play Dungeons II, and that more will come in future Minecraft LIVE events. For background, see what the Sift is, the mobs recorded so far, and how to get there. This page will be updated when Mojang names another biome.
